Anna Haag-Jönsson has her roots in Köping but grew up in Orsa – and accordingly played the violin before her interest in skiing took over. She attended Mora Ski Gymnasium from 2002 to 2006 and competed for IFK Mora until 2016.

She made her major international breakthrough in the 2007–2008 season, finishing 12th in the Tour de Ski. The following season, she finished seventh, and in 2009 she achieved third place in two World Cup events. This was only the beginning.

At the 2010 Vancouver Olympics she opened strongly with a fourth-place finish in the 10 km freestyle. She followed this with a silver medal in the double pursuit and another silver together with Charlotte Kalla in the women’s sprint relay.

Her greatest triumph came four years later at the 2014 Sochi Olympics, where she, together with Ida Ingemarsdotter, Charlotte Kalla, and Emma Wikén, won the gold medal in the 4 x 5 km relay. The victory also earned the four athletes the Svenska Dagbladet Gold Medal.

In March 2018, she ended her professional skiing career.
